Electronic Dockside Monitoring
Electronic dockside monitoring involves software that functions to reduce data redundancy. This software was borne out of a desire for software that could capture and send fisheries catch and sales data directly to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) without several data entry steps.
This software captures and transmits fish, vessel, and logbook data on catches, releases, and offloads. With this software, DFO quickly receives reliable data that is used for management purposes, while reducing costs to fish harvesters.
Data that is collected by the software is delivered to two users:
DFO receives logbook data that matches their reporting specifications.
Sales data is sent to both DFO and to the processors existing internal sales software.
